Great Blue Heron

Great blue herons are tall, long-legged birds often seen wading in shallow water.

Herons eat fish and other small animals.

To catch their food, great blue herons stand very still, like feathered statues.

When an animal that is good to eat wanders nearby, the heron spears it with its sharp bill.
